I Care - Please Read

LISTEN TO YOUR BODY
You’ve probably heard this before; however, it meant little to me until I was the one being told, " You have colorectal cancer." If you are experiencing something out of the ordinary, such as pain or discomfort that will not go away, call your doctor.

OBTAIN FAMILY MEDICAL HISTORY
This can be a useful tool for your doctor to determine if you are at risk for certain types of cancer. I found out that my maternal grandfather had colorectal cancer. If I had known this, I would have been screened at an early age. He wasn’t as lucky as I was.

ASK FOR HELP IF YOU NEED IT
Family and friends are invaluable as support during cancer treatment.

FIND SOMETHING THAT WILL TAKE YOUR MIND AWAY FROM CANCER
My husband built a pond in our backyard for my “peaceful place.”

I'm Nic Ulrich, and I survived Cancer. Twice!

Agreed! You can’t do this alone at all. And as for a peaceful place, my Man-Cave was awesome! Snacks and video games and a comfy chair and a phone with a direct line to the kitchen (aka Mom).

Hi, I'm Sandilu

No job or insurance…this becomes a fight….
My journey began in Feb 2010 with pain in the rectal area, I saw my primary care doctors twice treating it both times as hemorroids. Still I was in horrible pain, I went to the emergency room and was told it was calcified hemorroids, treated and still in pain. August.. Back to my primary care and a new doctor on staff, he sent me to a specialist finally…I sat in front of this doctor in a chair and was never even examined…he gave me Metamucil and an ointment.. ..so 100.00 and a 4 minute exchange of words and sent me on my way.
Finally I was diagnosed in Jan 2011 with stage IV Colorectal cancer…please you know your body…stay on top, demand an exam, colonoscopy, whatever it takes to get to the root of the problem…
